Getting Started

The Excel 1001A/B/F Laser Head can support up to 6 axes of measurement (6/ea. Interferometers with 6/ea. Receivers).

To choose the correct components for your application, start with the 1001A/B/F Laser Head, determine what type of interferometer is best and the number of axes of motion required.

Example-1 For an XY-stage you would need at least two Plan Mirror Interferometers and a 50% Beam Splitter. And if you decided that a coupler type of interface is most suitable for you; the system would consist of:
1 ea. 1001B/F Laser Head
1 ea. 1014A 50% Beam Splitter
2 ea. 1012A/B/C/D Plane Mirror Interferometers
2 ea. 1031A/F Receivers
1 ea. 1036A Fast Pulse Converter (each 1036A can support two axes)
1 ea. 1037A Binary Interface Card (only one 1037A is required per couple)
2 ea. 1038A Fast Comparator Card
1 ea. 1040A/B Power Supply for Laser Head
1 ea. 1041A Coupler Card Cage
2 ea. 1053A/1058A Measurement Cables
1 ea. 1054A/1059A Power/Reference Cable for Laser Head
Example- 2 Another example is for a Disc Servo Writer. If you decided that a Single Beam Interferometer was suitable for your application and the system would be one axis, the items to be purchased would be:
1 ea. 1001B/F Laser Head
1 ea. 1018A/F Single Beam Interferometer
1 ea. 1019A Retroreflector
1 ea. 1031A/F Receiver
1 ea. 1032A/B PC Signal Processor Card
1 ea. 1040A/B Power Supply for Laser Head
1 ea. 1053A/1058A Measurement Cable
1 ea. 1054A/1059A Power/Reference Cable for Laser Head
PC / Controller  In all cases, the system must use some kind of controller, typically a small computer. The PC Signal Processor Card listed above was designed to plug directly into an IBM/PC or its compatibles, or if you wish to use another controller, please contact Excel Precision for other options available to you.
